I just purchased a Shakespeare #1105-5'8", Tony Accetta, bamboo casting fishing rod. The Shapespeare seal has, Honor Built; Honor Sold on it.
From what I have read on your forum, this dates it pre WW 2. The rod is in VG+ condition. Is there anything more that you can tell me about my rod? What would this rod book for in today's market? Any help would be appreciated since I have been unable to find out anything about it. Thanks you for help...... Re: Shakespeare #1105-Tony Accetta model Rod

Shakespeare never made any of their own bamboo rods. most were made by South Bend with some also being made by Horricks and Ibbotson or Union Hardware. Yours is most likely South Bend. the Tony Accetta line was in response to other makers having a high end name attached to their rods. Kind of like having a pro fishermans name attached today. That being said there is not a ton of collector value for Shakespeare cane, partly because there are so many out there. It would probably appeal to someone trying o fill a hole in a collection or to complete a set(don't ask about my Heddon collection). I would say on a really good day with a few interested parties you are looking in the $125 range. Re: Shakespeare #1105-Tony Accetta model Rod

Thanks Gary, your information helps me a lot. I was not able to find out anything about this rod on my own. Would you happen to know what year it was made? The only information I had was that it was pre WW2.
Thanks again for your help..... Re: Shakespeare #1105-Tony Accetta model Rod
