My patterns are not coming out on the crisper side of things. They tend to run together , still looking nice, but it is not the effect I am wanting.
Do you let the rod finish set up a little before doing the marbling, to keep the design crisper? I am using regular prokote. Thanks Re: Marbeling help

Hi John,
Yes, you do let the finish set up some before marbling. Amount of time varies on temperature and probably brand. You will just have to work with it. I've waited as long as a half hour, before marbling original ThreadMaster. Take care, Chris Re: Marbeling help

Epoxy flows but stiffens and then eventually sets. The longer you wait the less migration or flow you'll get between colors. But there is a window in which you'll still have to do this. Wait too long and you'll have a situation where there is no longer sufficient flow for the epoxy to level well.

John,
I introduce a small amount of color preserver (flexcoat or chromaseal), I am not a chemist so I cant explain the reaction but I assume the acrylic in the CP reacts with the epoxy making it very "stringy" and it will hold the colors in more consistent patterns. I would advise you test the amounts of CP you use as too much will turn the epoxy into an unusable glob of goo. Good luck!
