Is there a problem with using CA to adhere the tip top? Re: using CA for tip top

I think that it is really not a very good idea. But, perhaps there are those who have used such glue.

Based on experience attempting to glue together toys and small items as a kid, CA does not stand up well to torsional stresses. There may be enough surface area in a tip top, but I wouldn't use it for more than an attempt at a short term repair. A 5 min epoxy will get the job done if you don't have a hot melt on hand.

Fly rod tip tops can and do become grooved, bent, or broken. You will not have to cut the tip off your fly rod to replace a tip top secured with hot melt adhesive. Re: using CA for tip top

CA will also release with heat, similar to hot melt. Re: using CA for tip top

Phil: Will CA melt and release at a lower temperature than hot melt? I worry about damaging the tiny amount of adhesive which bonds the graphite fibers in the smallest and perhaps weakest point in the blank. I know firsthand for the last 60 years stick-shellac / hot melt glue has affixed tip-tops and broadheads without fail. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
