Electronic foot switches?

I stumbled across a couple youtube videos where an electronic foot pedal was used as a replacement for a mechanical one on old sewing machines. The added control seems awesome. Has anyone upgraded their foot pedal for finer control? Anything i would need to be aware of when purchasing one?

Adam,
Unfortunately, linemaster no longer makes their excellent AC/DC universal electronic speed control

However, fordham makes a very similar electronic foot speed control that works nearly as well.
