bought an old bamboo fly rod to re-furbish.. since it is my first endeavor and there are no markings, i need to know how to determine what "weight" the rod is..

it is a "convertible " rod from fly to spin, depending on which way one switches the handle . probably of Japanese origin. it is a 9', three piece rod.

thanks,

About the best you can do would be to run the CCS numbers on it and then use the ERN to convert power to a fly line number. You can use ERN=ELN as a starting point although that may not give you the rod's original rating.

Most of the convertible rods I've seen were originally sold as 6-weight rods, or thereabouts.
