Does anybody know the hardness rating for the duralite rings? Are they harder then the fuji hard alloy I am used to? Re: Guide ring questions

I believe they are, but someone at AR would be your best source for an accurate answer. They should be back in tomorrow AM and will likely respond at that time.

Can't comment on the hardness of Duralite, but it might interest you to know that Fuji is discontinuing Hardloy in favor of an improved Aluminum Oxide ring. This ring is also being used in Concept "O" guides. Concept "O" guides will be concept guides (like the LN and MN) with economical Aluminum Oxide rings...something Fuji has never offered before. Duralite is Aluminum Oxide as is Halide according to the Am Tack web site. Re: Guide ring questions

Boo! I love those guides will the new aluminum oxide be as hard as the hardloy were? Can braided line be used with them? Thanks for responding it is hard to get direct comparisons to all the guide rings made with all the proprietary materials and marketing names. Here are some for free Powerlite, Megalite, and Hasselhoffoxide! Re: Guide ring questions

I did some diggin and found some posts from am tack stating that the duralite were comparable but not quite as hard as Alconite. I found another post that states Alconite to have a vickers rating of 1500. I suppose then that duralite would be somewhere between 1200-1400 in vickers hardness. This is all supposition but it makes me feel better. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
