Depends on HOW much you need to ream ??
I have reamed out graphite seats ( blank though ) You may be better to measure the area it has to sit and get the propper size to fit

I may have to move the reel seat a little , I have ordered carbon fiber grips in a specific length and iam just trying to picture in my head how its all gonna come together I might be facing a half inch or less of , so I was just wondering if they can be reamed, iam just thinking in advance I don't even have the the components yet...

Sante,

What part of the reel seat are you thinking about reaming out? To fit the blank or the carbon fiber grip? If it is the carbon fiber grip you're concerned about fitting the reel seat, not to worry. I just finished an Eternity 2 with Toray Graphite MVT reel seat and installed a carbon fiber split grip from Mike Pedersen at Riley Rods. The grip fit the reel seat perfectly....like it have been cast together!

I'm sure you can ream the seat to move the seat just a bit with no issue, especially if you are only talking about a half inch. You will probably find that it doesn't take more than a light scuffing to get it to move that half inch. With the graphite mixed in, it might be a tad tougher to ream than a standard nylon seat. I would rather have to ream a seat a bit, than have one where the fit is sloppy.

Sante,

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the rod before my customer, (a buddy), picked the rod up to fish a tournament. I'll have to borrow it from him and gets some pictures of it. It is one of the nicest rods I have built. Any that is going back to the 1980's!
