question on RM inlace article

Good article and I wonder if anyone has tried using the material to make an entire grip or insert? Is this stuff hard like a piece of turning acrylic for pens? Would it hold up?

Hi Dwayne,

I started using this product about seven years ago when I saw a bowl turner at a crafts show use the turquoise tinted Inlace in a bowl. I made a few grips with the turquoise tinted Inlace and they turned out well. Since that time I have used colorless inlace tinted with powdered dyes. I also use the thickener just to make it easier to apply.

The material is relative heavy and rather brittle. Because of that I've been reluctant to use it to make the entire grip from Inlace. The butt area of a rod doesn't flex a lot, but I worry about the brittleness of the Inlace when it is cured. Maybe someone else has tried it. Good luck with your project.
