30 inches is one place to start

Hello Buzz,I built myself a Lamiglas "Ron Arra Surf Series" 11' -1 pc, mod.# XRA 1321 rated for 12-20 lb. line and 7/8-3oz.lures. As a casting rod, my first guide from the spool is 20 3/4", and I have 16 guides on this rod. I guess it all depends on the blank that you choose, the line size, and the lure weight.
