Looking over my moderator's logs for this past week I see that several posts have been removed due mainly to the poster's omission of a valid email address. Some of you have asked why we are such sticklers for this information.

RodBuilding.org is easily the world's largest and most heavily used rod building message board. The sponsors tell me they are pleased, and the rod builders say they find this place a valuable resource. This is exactly what I envisioned when I set it up. The few simple rules we do have have contributed, in my opinion, to the overall congenial atmosphere that exists here. I wish that to continue - it's better for everybody.

Many, if not most of the public message boards on the internet, are subject to some very nasty episodes where personal differences explode onto the various forums. Thus, most are now switching to a set up where you must register, giving a large amount of personal information (which can be used for any number of purposes by those collecting the information). We have never asked for any type of registration and hope that the request for an actual name and valid email address will be honored by those wishing to use the forum. We have a good thing going here and would like to keep it that way. The simple request for an actual name and valid email address should not be too hard to swallow. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Tom : When it come to any one expressing a opinion, belife or method. I have no problem. I thrive on constructive critzicism, but if the party who makes these comments cannot put a name behind it I give no credit to.
Keep a tight line Bob

Bob, I couldn't agree more. Problem is, we're having to remove posts which aren't inflammatory or insulting - many are quite helpful, but they don't contain a valid email address so they are automatically removed.

Since I last asked for help here, my wife and son changed our email service provider. We had gotten a DSL a few months ago and we were paying a monthly fee to both the new DSL and our old internet access co. We now have our internet access straight... or so I am told by my computer experts. If one of my old postings is one you are referring to, I apologize for any trouble or extra work I caused you.

I value any past or future help I get from this site.
Thank You
Bill Doherty

Bill,

I don't believe any of your posts were involved. And it's never any trouble, posts without valid email addresses are automatically removed with no work on the part of anyone here.
