heavier tilefish blank

Hi all. I have a tilefish rod I built on a 79XXXH St. Croix Musky with 3" cut from the tip and six inches added to the butt (aluminum tube behind the reel seat). While it handles 2 lbs of lead with ease and 3 in a pinch, 4lbs seems to be a bit heavy. I would like to build one that comfortably handles 5 lbs in case the drift speed requires it. I would require the blank to be graphite with a fairly light tip, say size 9-12.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you can, try to contact Capt Richie, Atlantic Custom Tackle, on the Bloody Decks Board. When I had the same question he recommended a United Composite 7'6" CX Raptor blank that he had available. It works great up too 5 lbs, haven't tried anything over that. I didn't need to cut anything off the tip or add anything to the butt just built as it came. Before that several people recommended the Phenix Hybrid Diamond 760X2H. I like the rod but It was good for 1-3 lbs but over that i just wasn't too happy with it.
