Where can I find lists of recommended blank length, weight, action, and power for specific fishing techniques and species? Re: species/method specific measurements?

I think that if you look at manufacturers web site, they will often have a recommendation for a particular rod and fishing species.
For example: [stcroixrods.com] or: [www.northforkcomposites.com] or: [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] If you look through these various catalogs, you will see some very good descriptions of rods, rod blanks, fishing applications. From there you can expand your views to any of the other great brands that are on the market. Be safe Re: species/method specific measurements?

Thanks, Roger. I take it there is no such single reference guide available? Re: species/method specific measurements?

Blank manufacturers make recomemndations but like rod ratings, it's all subjective. One of the best things about a custom rod is figuring out for yourself what blanks perform in certain conditions and opinions will vary. A majority of my personal fishing time is spent on R&D experimenting with different components and build techniques to see what I feel works and doesn't so I can make the best possible recommendations to clients. When I'm unsure, there is inevitably someone here with valuable insight and experience willing to help. Re: species/method specific measurements?

Many of the technique specific articles we do and have done in RodMaker include criteria for things such as length, power, action, material, etc. We've managed to cover a truly wide range of technique specific rods in the last 18 years, but haven't covered every single one. That'll take a bit more time.

Blank length, weight, power and action are objective measurements I am able to determine. Species and angling method are objective specifications of many rod buyers. There are many species I have never caught and many styles of angling I have never tried. I still would like to be able to locate and offer dependable advice to anglers on blank choices. Try a Google Search on type of fish and rods to use you will get a lot of info on what to use From there you get a good idea of what to look for
