Help with Fuji kr guides

Building my 2nd rod, primarily for fishing surf perch on the Oregon coast, using a rainshadow rx6 9' 6", coupled with a penn battle 2000. The rod is rated for 6 - 10 lb test, 1/4 - 1/2 oz lures, will probably use braid. My thougth is to use the KR concept, KL H guides.
Per the GPS software it gives me 25, 20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 5.5, with a choke point at 25.55 I realize that I don't use all the guides, my thought is to use the 16, 8, then 5.5 the rest of the way out. Truthfully, I have not done this before, so could use some advice on best guides for this application, along with guide placement.
If I go with the 16, it shows placement at 13.74" with the 8 at 18.11 witht the 5.5 at 21.34. Will this work, roughly how many 5.5 will I need to run out to the end, and any recommendations on a tip top, or should I just use the kt like fujji rcommends?

Any help, advice very much appreciated.
Thanks
John

John,
Since the blank is 9'6" long, I would put the first guide at 25 inches from the face of the reel spool and go from there.

Depending on the speed of the blank, you will use fewer or more running guides. Just put enough running guides on the rod, to let the line follow the contour of the loaded blank. I think that this is a fairly slow blank, and if so, spacing of 5-6 inches at the tip end of the blank would be about right.

But, if the tip is fast, you might have to use a spacing of 3-4 inches near the rod tip.

Just let the blank and its loaded shape dictate the position of the guides as opposed to any thing else.

Good luck

Roger, do I need to change to the "belly guides" then to the running guides, something along the line of 25H, 12H, 5.5H, then 3 5.5 J belly guides, then 4 - 6, of he 5.5J ks? Thanks

Penn reels are notorious for not having much "upsweep" so I'm guessing you may have calculated too much of an angle. It's a smallish reel so things won't spread out too much. I think the 16 is a good choice for a stripper with a small reel and light braid. GPS is saying 13 but I would guess 17 to 19 inches from the tip of the spool axle will be a better place for the stripper. The 16H, 8H 5.5M will be your best group followed by a 5.5 or 5 KB (I would use two or even three on a rod this long) followed by KT5.5 or 5 to the tip.Your choke would wind up maybe 16 or 17 inches beyond the stripper.
