EVA Grip Decoration/Finishing

Have just read the article in RodMaker Vol 14 Issue 3 by Tom, entitled "Easy Free-Form Wrapping", where he explains how to add "Free Form Thread" decoration to a blank. As most of you are aware I'm sure, Tom explains how to do this type of decoration to a Blank, my question is; could the same process be used to add a thread decoration to a EVA grip? Can an EVA grip be coated with epoxy so that thread decoration can be added?

Apprecaite any help advice.

Regardsa

I don't think it would be a good idea. If you just covered the thread and not the whole grip I think the epoxy would crack because the grip is flexible. I wouldn't coat the entire grip either, due to EVA being porous I believe you'd get millions of bubbles in the finish. But I wouldn't mainly because I do not like slick grips

I finished an eva grip once upon a time for another reason. It looked okay but did not hold up for long. The underlying eva could not support it and it cracked after a few uses. I would not recommend coating eva with epoxy!

Try it on a Carbon Fibre grip. it should give you the results you are after.

This isn't thread work on EVA, but it is decorated EVA in a sense:
