I have a Fenwick F L 102-7 that I want to rebuild when I search the web they say it is a8 1/2 ft. 7 weight fly rod.
What I have is a 6 ft. one piece rod with a 18 inch handle that is detachable with a reel seat for spinning or casting. There are no guides only a tip top so I don't know what it was originally. Any information would be helpful. Thanks Don Re: Fenwick fl 102-7

Hmm, the math doesn't work out perfectly, are your measurements exact on that butt section and overall length and are those assembled or disassembled measurements? It sounds like they cut off all but the front 18" or so of the rear half of that blank.
That is quite an extreme modification and the blank is likely an E-glass blank. You may want to consider starting with a new blank selected for the purpose you want to use the rod for. If you really want to stick with that blank, make sure the ferrule is well wrapped and reinforced - it (the ferrule) was never designed to be used in the manner it is being used now.
