G'day All,
Can anyone tell me for certain if an AFTCO unibutt ferrule will fit into any of the AFTCO slip over reel seats? It looks to me like a #2 ferrule (0.970 OD) will fit in a #3 reel seat (1" ID) but I'm not sure because I don't know where the OD measurement of the ferrule is taken or if the OD is the same above and below the nut and I also don't know if they both use the same thread. If anyone knows for sure, I would appreciate them letting me know too! I guess if the diameters are different by only a little then I could either machine the ferrule down in diameter or make a sleeve to take up the extra space. But the thread is then the vital part. Hi Jason,
If it was me I would call AFTCO. This way you will get an exact answer from the Company. Here is their phone #, 949-660-8757. While talking with them ask for a copy of their new catalog. As always it contains lots of good info and specs that are helpful to us rod designer/builders. I have always found them to be very helpful.
