Cord wrapped grips, shrink wrap, flocking. The options are many. Which is best depends on the type use the rod is expected to see.

Frank have you looked at the NEW Winn grips. The ones just introduced at ICRBE this year? Definitely different, feel great and come in several colors as well as std. black. So far most everyone I show them to has bought a rod with them on it. They are easy to install as well.

Mr. McKinney - Look up my Mad-Swirl grips. If that is the different you looking for, give me a shout and I can assist you in creating your own. The process isn't too hard and I can help you along the way.
