Fuji used to offer a really nice single foot boat guide. No one seems to offer anything close - is there just no demand? Would really be nice to have some for running guides!
Has anyone seen anything close to the old single foot boat guides by Fuji? Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

Are you talking about the old Fuji power oval single foots? Hydra has a heavy duty, plate type round guide, the CHD. Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

Mark, Your dreaming of those wonderful old BLBLG's. Great guides, I too wish they were still available. Jimmy I at Anglers Resourse, are your ears ringing. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

Looks like you can still get them outside the US. The RodWorks to the left. Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

Hello,
Not sure if your boat rod is conventional or spinning, but if spinning you might want to look at Batson's VS3 guides. I have paired them with the old Pacbay Rainforest-2 blanks, (20lb mag-bass), and they are very durable. The frames are triple braced, heavy, and use a thicker stainless than others in the same class. I like the black version as I found them to be very saltwater-resistant. The only drawback I see is that they seem to be available only in hard aluminum oxide/hialoy rings last I checked. -chad Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

Yes - the old Fuji style. I have a few in the shop still. I'd really like to have something like this to use in place of all the double foots on musky rods. Keep dreaming for now I guess! Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

For a rod that needs a very tough guide, I also use the Batson VS3 guide. Very tough and durable.

For musky fishing any one of these three frames will be better than the BLBLG's. BHNOG, BHNLG, or BNLGH. The BLBLG are the toughest single foot guide I have ever seen, too much for musky fishin'. They are not single foot guides but heavy'er than normal. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/23/2015 09:44AM by Dennis Danku. Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

For durability in a casting rod these days many are using the big footed KB style guide all the way to the top. Makes a great flippin' stick and works well for heavy power casting. Re: Heavy Single Foot Guides

I've started to use the KB on some salmon rods and they are holding up well. I guessing they'd probably work well on Musky rods too.
With the KB in a HD casting situation I'd be more concerned about the wrap adequately holding foot than the frame's durability. Pair the KB with a locking wrap and proper thread tension and you should be good to go. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
