Rainshadow or St. Croix blank?

I know this is likely a Ford vs. Chevy debate so please keep it civil. Assuming I can buy the blanks at a similar in price (which I can) what does everyone here prefer, Rainshadow or St. Croix? Also, is the Immortal worth the extra cost? She asked for a black rod so I might be pushing it to go with the Immortals color and it would take some selling!

My wife has asked me to make her a light walleye/crappie jigging rod that is around 6'. As she doesn't fish much I am not going to put top notch components on it but would like it to be a very nice rod. Right now I am debating between St. Croix SCIII or Rainshadow Immortal or Revelation. Since I've never built a tod with the Fuji Concept system, I would also like ot try it on this one, I also understand they cast further which will help with the shorter blank. Below are my current options:

Immortal Blank: IMMWS62L-TC
Guides, Fuji Alconite Concept Titanium

Revelation Blank: REVS62L-SB
Guides, Fuji Alconite Concept Black

St. Croix Blank: 3S60LF
Guides, Fuji Alconite Concept Titanium

Before Batson changed to better blanks, I used St. Croix exclusively.

But now, I generally use Batson blanks. Really good values and really nice blanks.

But to each his own.

Be safe

I just built the Immortal 6'2" walleye rod. Very nice blank.

Used a Fuji VSS 16 handle, and Microwave guides.

I've also just built one of the 6'2" immortal blanks(IMMW62ML-TC) but I built it into a spiral wrapped casting rod. I'm really impressed with this new series of blanks. I'm not going to "bash" St Croix, but don't think you could go wrong with the Immortal. And x2 on what Roger says, nice rod Garry

I like the St. Croix blanks, but for the money, the Rainshadow blanks are a better value.

Would the Immortal be comparable to the SCIII line from St. Croix?

Our Immortal line replaced the RX8 lineup.

Ryan where would you place the Eternity Fly Blanks? How do they compare to Pac Bay Quickline?
Thanks,

Thanks for the positive feedback on my Wally Rod..

It's not really fair to ask one provider to compare their product with another.
This how wars start! GRIN.

Today, there can't be much to choose between the top end blanks from the well known names.
They all claim to have the latest cloth and the super nano- epoxy and they roll their blanks under 16 tonnes of pressure.

USA made blanks are going to be more expencive than Asian made blanks.
Japanese blanks are more expencive that Chinese or Korean blanks.
If your labor force earns less, your costs are lower.

In the last couple of years, I have had the tips of several high-end blanks broken by operator error.
This makes me wonder how good a blank the average guy really needs?

Everyone wants to own #1, An IE 12 blank might shatter at the sound of a loud sneeze, but there will be some guys lined up to get them.
Perhaps it's mostly about bragging rights.

If the pro's are far better that the average we are all in trouble.
I recently watched a TV Pros high stick on a hook set and break his rod...
Was it in this years Classic that some Pro threw their rod to the other end of the boat because they lost a fish?
These guys should have to use Ugly Sticks until he gains some respect for the equipment.

I know which St. Croix blanks are made in the USA, does anyone have a list of other blanks manufactured here? I'm primarily interested in walleye/crappie style blanks.

Nate,

I believe the North Fork Composite and Phenix blanks are made in the US. Nothing else comes to me mind right off hand; but it's late and I am getting older....!

You'll need to add Lamiglass to the group as well. I think they are a great blank and don't get hardly any press as compared to many of the other brands.

The Immortal blank is a wonderful Ultra High Modulus blank! There are some really great reviews out there on them. The power behind the Immortals have been really successful as well. For guides also consider ALPS guides as well.

The Revelation is one of the most durable blanks out there that also provides both lightness and sensitivity.

We also have the North Fork Composite Line by Gary Loomis to throw in the mix.

It really depends on costs and what you need the blank to do. You can call into our office and talk to any one of our sales staff and inquire about both blanks.
