Does anyone know the ID of these grips that Fuji makes for their VSS reel seat? I can't find it on any site that sells it or in their catalog.
Thanks, Joe Re: Fuji FGV VSS handle adapter

I am not sure I understand the question, but I have used many of these reel seats, so I will take a shot.
If the question is, "What is the ID of the cork or EVA grips?" It's about 1/4 inch, however, the front of the grip is hollowed out to fit snugly onto the back half of the VSS seat...Sort of a bayonet fit. You will need to ream about 2 inches of corm or EVA to fit the blank, then shim the reel seat with arbors as usual. It's not the easiest seat to install, but it is very smooth and slick looking and very comfortable to use, as a down locker. Your fingers never touch the threads and the grip fits your hand nicely. Personally, I have big hands, I prefer the #17 seat, for it's larger diameter. Re: Fuji FGV VSS handle adapter

That's what I was looking for. I know many of the EVA grips I have looked at come in a few IDs so I was more curious about that but I assume it's smaller so it will work on most blanks.
Thank you, Joe Re: Fuji FGV VSS handle adapter

As you are no doubt aware, EVA doesn't get reamed to an exact fit, like cork does.
The preferred method is to ream it close, then butter the blank with epoxy before you slide and stretch the EVA into place. I have done a couple of EVA and VSS units using tape arbors on the reel seat. You need to test-fit the seat, mark the arbors location, then remove the arbors to install the grip.. I stick the arbors to a glass door or mirror to keep them safe while I install the grip, then re-install the arbors and install the reel seat. There is plenty of time to re-assemble everything, when using 15 minute epoxy, but you might want to use "slow set" on your first try...Wink. I don't like the mess of Fuji's black carbon bushings, which are epoxied inside the reel seat first then reamed to a perfect fit on the blank. However, in the future, I might use them to allow an EVA grip and VSS seat to be installed as a single unit. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
