How big of a pit does this fill in? I have a rod I'M working on new eyes for a freind and the cork handle is chewed up from what it looks like to me by a rod holder.was wondering if i could use this to fill in and sand smooth?

Pit past is the best filler I have ever used.
It can fill large holes but has to be layered as thin layers. But you may be better off replacing individual cork rings

If you have a rod that is badly chewed up, you can replace the cork grip from the rear of the rod.
Use a pair of slip joint pliers using the inner rough jaws, to chew the cork off the rod. Then, take a straight blade held at 90 degrees to the blank to scrape off any existing glue. If necessary, you can use a bit of heat to soften the glue as you do this work.

Then, grab another grip out of stock, bore it with a drill so that the entire hole in the grip is the same size as the largest portion of the blank at the extreme butt of the rod. Then, use masking tape to build up the rod diameter to be the same diameter all of the way up to the front of the grip so that it is a constant diameter. Uxe epoxy to attach the new grip. Use DNA to clean up excess epoxy and you are set to go.

If you know that the rod is going to be used a lot in a rod holder, use an EVA grip rather than cork. EVA is much tougher for a grip when used in this harsh environment.

Be safe

if it is from a rod holder maybe you can get the owner to change it to maybe a smooth butt It will last longer and be easer to get out of a holder when a fish is on Tuen the cork down and use it as an arbor then glue the new butt right over

the damage area is in a small area of the grip it looks like where the top of the rod holder put some chew markers on it and a piece missing out of fore grip.I never used any pit paste before but i will give it a try first before replacement.

don"t know if he would go for other grips as this is his a 30 yr old star rod that is his favorite rod.

you have some big problems with mising cork on the handle, do it right the frist time it is easy , my 2 CTS.
