Fast or slow speed what do you like best as for slow anything from 2 rpm to 8 rpm and average being 16 rpm to 36 rpm and fast in the 72 rpm to 200 rpm speed. Glenn McMurrian Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/01/2014 01:04PM by Glenn McMurrian. Re: Drying ( Fast or Slow )

Define fast or slow. I turn about 30 RPM, but the best finish I have gotten was by hand turning. This could have been due to the slow speed or to the thinner coat of finish. Chris Richer Iroquois ON Re: Drying ( Fast or Slow )

9 RPM for drying. By hand for applying. Haven't tried anything faster. Re: Drying ( Fast or Slow )

Glenn,
I use a rod wrapper to apply finish at up to 200-300 rpm. Or, at 0 rpm for taking care of tunnels and other tricky areas on the rod. When I dry, I generally dry at about 5-6 rpm. There have been a few times for a special need, I will dry at 10-12 rpm. However, I have found that if I dry any faster, that the finish tends to form foot balls on the guides. Use a variable power supply on a DC motor and that way you can dial in the exact speed that you would like. Be safe Re: Drying ( Fast or Slow )

Hello,
If using the same motor to both apply and dry epoxy finish, I prefer something slow at 6-9 RPM's. If using a variable speed motor, you can apply finish at high RPM'S (100+) then select a slower speed for drying. For me the process for applying finish changes with the speed of the motor used. -chad Re: Drying ( Fast or Slow )

I put my finish on about 70 rpm The faster speed helps to get it on fast and helps to get straighter lines on the ends of the guides Wraps
if you get footballs you have too much finish on Stop the dryer and take some off Then you can finish with a slower speed Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
