base/finish wrap problem

Newbie-- I did a nice diamond pattern but when I put the base wrap on I Can see the outline of the diamond pattern - how do I change this? Re: base/finish wrap problem

Don't understand your question. The base wrap is underneath the diamond is it not? Do you mean the tie off wrap at each end on top of the diamond? It is natural to see the outline of the diamond underneath it but most of that will go away once you get a coat or two of finish on there. Or you can do a double overwrap which lessens the outline even more. Re: base/finish wrap problem

Sorry, just read Dale Clemens rod art and he called it the base wrap but referenced it as a tie off or tie down wrap - tying down the ends of the butt wrap.
My diamond wrap was A thread - should I used D thread to tie it down? Re: base/finish wrap problem

You certainly could and that would help your situation some. Once epoxy has been applied, your wrap should be solid color and not too indicative of individual threads unless upon very close review.
