UNC blue thread search

Wrapping a UNC-themed rod soon and oh how my eyes have grown old! -- is either Fishhawk's #37 Sky blue ncp, or even their #54 Lt. blue ncp close to the UNC Carolina blue color? (Probably will wrap with ncp d/t the light shade.) Other choice might be PacBay's light blue ncp but I don't have a spool in hand & my Gudebrod #37 supply is now extinct.

Many, many thanks!
Mike

check the schools official web site and search for school colors. every school has a Pantone color as their standard. Use that to match your color. some of the thread makers will list the matching Pantone color with their thread.

Mike,

"Carolina Blue" is pantone 278 which equates to the following threads:
Madeira 1075, RA 2301, or GS/Sulky 1029

"Tar Heels Deep Blue" is pantone 282 which equates to the following threads:
Madeira 1242, RA 2609, or GS/Sulky 1197

"Tar Heels Metallic Silver" is Pantone 877 - I couldn't quickly find an exact match to this, but you can do an online search.

"Tar Heels Silver" is Pantone 429 which equates to the following threads:
Madeira 1040, RA 2618, or GS/Sulky 1040

'White" is pure white.

Thanks very much John, very appreciated. This helps a bunch, I was originally sticking with blue and white only, but may research the silver to use as trim.

have a great day! Mike

Mike,

You're welcome, glad I could help.

The silver would probably go nice as a trim color in your wrap.

I think it would be great if all of the rodbuilding thread suppliers would post pantone color index numbers. Pro Wrap posts some. How about Fish Hawk, Fuji, etc??

John,

I didn't know that Madeira posted Pantone color matches for their thread. Where did you find that info?

Thanks

Chester

Thanks John that is nice. To bad they don't provided a choice when there isn't "the best" color match.

Have you ever had the need to call them for color matching assistance?
