Hello all,
I am building a surf spinning rod using 10' MH titanium graphite blank from Dblue. I like using Fuji KW guides as strippers starting from size 30, 20 and 12. Then I have no idea what to have. Maybe single foot KL guides from 10, 8 and 7 all the way, or just stick with KW all the way to size 7. Any body has built on this blank? What did you use? I would highly recommend looking at the new MicroWave 50 set. It is up to 48% lighter than other systems over-all and the running train is up to 73% lighter.... see them here [www.facebook.com] and get them from your favorite supplier. _______________________________ God Bless, Don Morse 800-516-1750 ext. 1207 / don@americantackle.us Rod Building..... When I build my surf rods I consider the following when choosing guides.
What weight will I be casting What line diameter What Shock Leader diameter (the guides needs to be able to pass the knot) Heavier rods I stick with double foot all the way Lighter rods I transition from double foot to single foot. So, it really comes down to what your primary purpose for the rod is. Re: Guide options for 10 foot surf spinning rod

I would highly recommend you stick with Fuji if you like Fuji. KW is a great surf frame and you can build it the way it works best for you. Take a look at a 30L, 20, and right into a KW8 choke guide and KW 8 runners (actually a two guide reduction train) if you need the strength of double foot runners. These guides will bullseye and space perfectly on the blank. Runners down to size 6 will handle 30-50lb braid (you mention MH so I'm guessing it's not a huge power rod). If you want to save the weight of double foot runners, use the KB all the way to the top. Very strong. As for weight, the Microwave calls for size 12 runners...are size 6 or 8 KB's or even KW's going to be 73% heavier...I don't think so. Flexibilty in design is the hallmark of any true Custom Built Rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
