For those folks who own one, does anyone know the size of the shaft on which the motor pulley is located?
Also, on the headstock does anyone know the shaft size and thread size and pitch on which the improved chuck is located? Also, if the heat stock pulley is removed, and if the chuck is removed from the head stock shaft, does anyone know the diameter of the head stock shaft and its associated bearings on each side of the headstock. This headstock looks much like the Taig headstock and was just wondering if they were using similar parts. Thanks much Re: Alps - upgraded chuck:

I thought someone from Batson would have answered ... Since not I'll try & tear one of mine apart & take a peek for you Re: Alps - upgraded chuck:

Ken,
I also would have thought that as well. I also dropped a request to Batson for an answer as well. Thanks for checking. --- Incidentally, the Taig chuck uses a 5/8th shaft for the motor pulley and uses a 3/4X16 thread on the chuck side of the head stock. Just wondering if the Improved Alps chuck used the same shaft and thread sizes. Be safe Re: Alps - upgraded chuck:

Definitely NOT Taig - motor shaft is 1/2"(actually 15mm) I need to buy a thinner width wrench to slip between the jaws & housing to loosen / remove the head. This looks to me to be a well engineered METRIC measurement design. Re: Alps - upgraded chuck:

Ken,
Thanks for the update. Since it is metric, it is likely an import. However, that does not mitigate the fact that the chuck is of very high quality. Be safe Re: Alps - upgraded chuck:
