It looks like heat is the way to go then. I've gotten the transfer tape in, and I'll probably begin experimenting with heat and the tape this weekend.
I see Larry sells a stand alone corner trimmer, I might have to pick one up. Re: Pearlabel 270 edges are visable

Seems some are putting them on a bare blank A coat of finish then the next day rolling the edges is what I get out of these posts With a little heat may help to push the edges down Even into the soft finish ????
Just a thought Bill - willierods.com Re: Pearlabel 270 edges are visable

Bill,
I had this thought as well. It seems like this would work. I'm planning on trying several new techniques on the next decal I do. I will report back with what I find. Re: Pearlabel 270 edges are visable

A long time ago on cutting decals ( the old ones ) there was an articul about cutting the edges with a sessor a certain way It read that the way it was cut it would tend to taper the edge of the decal
Any one remember that Bill - willierods.com Re: Pearlabel 270 edges are visable

OK, I can confirm that Jerry's transfer tape method works great!
I stuck the decal on like normal. Then I put a layer of transfer tape over it. Applied heat to the edge with a heat gun for a few seconds. Then I used a brayer to flatten out the edge, and push out as much adhesive as I could out. I did both edges like this, and then peeled the transfer tape off. Then blotted any left over adhesive goop stuff off with the tape. As far as I could tell the mojority of the edge was invisible after 2 coats of epoxy. I did miss a section along the top end of the decal where I didn't press hard enough with the brayer, and the edge is slightly visible. But I know how hard I need to press now. I completely agree that it's the adhesive that is reflecting light and making the edge visible. Thanks for the tip Jerry. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
