Hey guys so I have a guy that is wanting me to build him a rod. He fishes both salt and freshwater. He wants a 5'6 to 6' medium rod. When they fish fresh water he likes topwater, plastics, and crappie jigs. When he fishes saltwater he is using live bait or gulp on a jig head. He said that his lures usually range from 1/8-1/4 and he may rarely go down as low as 1/16. He also uses 12lb braid. He wants it to be a spinning rod.
Anyways I saw that MHX shooter blanks are the closet match to this in terms of line and lure rating as well as length, but I do not really know anything about a shooter blank. I think that a shooter blank is just a normal blank but much shorter is that right? Is this an ok blank for this? If not what blank would you suggest? Also will alconite guides be ok for this use? I usually use braid with alconite, but I have no experience with saltwater, braid, and alconite together. Thanks for all the help guys! Re: MHX Shooter for spinning rod?

The Shooter series would be a excellent choice for what you are describing. They can be built spinning or casting. The Alconite guides would be a very good choice of guides. Bob McKamey Mud Hole Custom Tackle bobm@mudhole.com Re: MHX Shooter for spinning rod?
