Two equals Three, or Four

Just a quick report on the use of two single piece rod blanks to make a one three or four-piece travel rod per the article in the last magazine. I have to say that done according to the instructions the automatic ferrules fit PEFECTLY. There is really nothing to do or make on them. It seems automatic and the fit is perfect.

I only see two downsides. First is that you have to use two blanks to make one travel blank. I got some deals at the last Expo so it wasn't a big deal to use two $25 rod blanks for what is easily a $50 or way better travel rod blank. But I'm not sure I'd use a couple of $100 blanks to do this! Also the instructions mention that you need to adjust for a slight increase in power of the final blank and I would agree with that. Start with blanks that are a full power lower than what you want and by the time you're done the power should be back up where you wanted it to begin with. Interesting concept and it does work.
