After slipping for awhile on the newsletter we are back up and going and hope to do a better job. If you are new to the board or just curious you can subscribe by sending an email to info@anglersresource.net. This issue has details on new Fuji reel seats we hope to have in later this fall and a new lock nut system called "Back Stop". We would also welcome suggestions from any current subscribers concerning the sort of content you would be interested in. Re: Anglers Resource Newsletter

I noticed one style of the locking nut at the Rod Room. Any idea when the rest will show up?

Hi,
I have already installed the Back Stop Lock Nut and it works great. The same goes for the SK reel seats and their associated grips, especially when designing a very lite rod. If you ever need help pertaining to a Fuji product, call Jim Ising. He has the answers, always willing to help and very patient. Thanks for all the help Jim. Neil it has been my pleasure. For those who don't know, Neil is a L-O-N-G time rod builder, which is a nice way of saying he up there in years and comfortable with what some would consider "old school" layouts. But when the time came and a customer asked for a KR CONCEPT rod, Neil jumped right in, did a little reading and picked up the phone. The first call turned into a "few" but I would consider Neil a qualified KR technician at this point. Hats off to an "old schooler" who has proven to me that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Gabe, the BACK STOP™ System as a general addition to any Fuji hood on any seat starts and stops with the LO1G-AN (the short one you have used). Beyond that there is a hidden thread BACK STOP™ (LOK16-AN) and a "Long Nut" BACKSTOP™ (LOS16-AN) but these are both designed to be used with Fuji's newest hood, the TVSJ16/ASH. This hood is not in stock yet so the other BACK STOP™ nuts are not being shipped. The new Hood (and matching BACK STOP™ nuts) will fit the TVSJ/ASH AND the VSS seat and they will fit any split seat where you can adjust the position of the threaded barrel to account for the added length of the hood and BACK STOP™ nut combined. The added length of the system makes it unsuitable for ACSM, ECSM and other seats with short threads out front - you will run out of thread. Re: Anglers Resource Newsletter

Due to the ability of the cushioned hoods to stretch and conform to the reel seat foot, I've never had a problem with these type seats loosening to begin with. So the "back stop" would almost seem a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. But I'll defer to Fuji and whatever it is that their customers are reporting. I'm sure it's a solid product.

Hi Tom,
Maybe it is due to different types of fishing and how the reel is held in the hand. I have had seats loosen both on up loading seats and down loading seats, spin reels and casting reels. My hand and fingers are always in contact with the seat locking asm. Nornally do not have the problem with a trigger seat Capt Neil Faulkner Re: Anglers Resource Newsletter

It is an occasional problem with uplocking set-ups but I think it is mostly to address the issue of some of the newer molded hoods that Fuji seems to be leaning toward. The design of those hoods in some cases holds the reel foot completely off the threads and the "floating" design can benefit from a more positive lock. It's also handy for split seats where overtightening puts great stress on two separate pieces. With BACK STOP™ you can snug up the seat against the foot and lock it in place without huge pressure on both pieces. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
