Look for stand up rod recipes

Hi, I'm planning to build a couple of stand up tuna rods. One is a 37kg 5.6ft rod (including short curved butt) and the other is a 24kg 6ft. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some recipes with example roller spacings and grip lengths.

Thanks Karl

The Volume 5 #6 issue of RodMaker had a full length treatise on all things relating to building stand up rods, including some diagrams of rod lengths and how they affect the mechanical advantage of effort vs distance. There is a good bit about matching rods to harnesses, etc. Far too in depth to go into here.

You might do a search on this forum for "stand up rods" and see what the archives turn up. They've been discussed quite a bit over the years.

Hi, Did do a search previously but nothing useful came up unfortunately. Also sadly the rod maker magazines online ordering system appear not to ship internationally which is a pain, have emailed them in case there is another option.

Thanks Karl

Check with Ian Miller rods - he may have the back issue. As it happens, Ian MIller also contributed to that article.
