Has anyone had a custom branding iron made for their rod building logo to brand cork grips?

Thomas,
All of those things would work, but if one wanted to do a bunch of grips and had a logo, it would nice to have a custom made branding iron to brand the grip. Be safe Re: Branding cork

Wayne Diduch has done some pretty cool designs on cork using the wood burning pen with different tips.
Mr. Wilson - do you know of anywhere that offers custom branding irons? Jeremy Reed Reed Rods Re: Branding cork

Jeremy, if you Google "custom branding irons" you will find a number of them. Re: Branding cork

One thing to remember is that most of the branding irons are made for flat surfaces. Since cork handles are round, it would have to be modified for the curved surface. Another problem is that all handles are not the same shape, so besides being round, they are not uniformly round (i.e. same diameter over their full length) so you actually end up with compound curves. Bob,
I think that if you check the sides of Cows, that get branded each year following birth, the surface is not flat. When a branding iron is applied it is "rocked" over the surfacre to insure a uniform brand on a round or non uniform surface. Be safe Re: Branding cork

but the COW'S BUTT is a little plyable [ softer that cork handle ] it is doable but don't think the brand mark would be the same color all over

William,
The only way to know for sure is to try it. I suspect that one wold be well pleased with the result of a well made branding iron with a logo and having it well done on the grip. Be safe Re: Branding cork

I had a custom branding iron made through Woodcraft of my logo. It works great for all sorts of jobs. Reelseat inserts, cork on the inside of the rod tubes, wood rodmaking jigs and displays. I love mine and the only suggestion I can offer, is do not have thick lines as they take longer to heat.
