Wrapping a sage VXP 4 wt for a customer .
Now on some fly blanks i wrap the ferule. These look like they may not need it and their website does not say either way. As the blank is just at 1.1 oz on my scale i am reluctant to add extra mass of the wrap plus two coats of PG. Anyone know how they stand up without a ferule wrap? Re: wrapping ferules on SAGE VXP

Only Sage can advise you as to whether they reinforce their ferrules or not. If their factory rods are wrapped, then I might suspect they're not. Maybe.
A short wrap of 00 or A, perhaps a quarter inch at the edge of the ferrule, will prevent a split out otherwise and won't add any appreciable weight. ...................... Re: wrapping ferules on SAGE VXP

I would wrap them with some white silk and then put a thinned coat of epoxy over that, Your actual added weight will be minimal and you will not see the wrap. Re: wrapping ferules on SAGE VXP
