Just curious on opinions on the pipe style reel seats as for comfort reasons. I'm looking to do a minimalist look and weight also. Thanks in advance. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

Hi, Chris,
I built (14) light freshwater spinning rods using Batson BPSTG16 pipe style seats; very comfortable and light. I'm sure the Fuji are similar. Love them. It is all that I use on rods other than tarpon (larger). Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

My favorite. Down locking with the threads trimmed flush to match the reel. I don't use a fore grip or a grip behind the reel seat. I offset the arbor in about 1/8" on each end of the reel seat and use epoxy mixed with black paint to fill in the void. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

It's my favorite seat for spinning rods. I mount them downlocking and taper the rear grip up to the seat body. No foregrip in most cases. Sometimes I bore holes in the body, or replace the body center with another material.

I prefer uplocking so I can avoid hands on the threads and I can put a foam ramp on the front of the reel seat to provide intimate, smooth, comfortable, contact with the blank. If I want a palm swell I add that to the seat with a custom sleeve.
[www.rodbuilding.org] The photo is of a cork sleeve, but it could be made of any material of your choice. Carbon fiber, for example. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

Tom do you recommend a size 18? Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

I like the 18's and 20's for most of my rods.

Like Tom, I prefer downlocking with no foregrip. Trim the threads and it's a great spinning setup. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

I was not aware you could still buy them. I like them in the #20 size. No nuts or threads for your hand to fall on. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

I'm actually looking top do minimal or no grips at all. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

It would be a good choice in that regard, then, as it tapers down to the blank at one end or the other.

Hello,
For anyone interested, just wanted to mention D-Blue Fishing to the left carries NPS style seats in the larger (and harder to find) 22, 24, and 26 sizes. I got a #24 from them which seems to be of good quality and which I intend to use on my next surf rod. -chad Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

Anglers Resource carries the FUJI NPS up to size 24. Re: opinions on Fuji Nps reel seat

Hello,
Thanks Jim. Is there a link to order a size 24 directly from Angler's Resource? I spot the link for your authorized retailers, but when I looked them up a few months ago it seemed they only carried NPS up to a size 20? From what I was told, it seems those larger sizes are not as popular so they don't stock them. -chad Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
