CTS - New Blank Design Program

Stephen Pratt of CTS has developed a new computer program to more effectively alter lengths of blanks - up and down from the standard - and maintain its target line rating and lure rating.

Below is the explanation from the CTS website
Regards,
Herb Ladenheim
CTS Distributer

Generation 3 (G3) design system is launched.

Over the past six months we've been working on our new design system and philosophy for our entire blank program. G3 Is a complete redevelopment of our entire blank program.

Our previous design systems based each blank series off a central reference point. This system has served us very well. However it had its short comings when blank lengths moved too far from this central reference point. In a recent feedback program, we found shorter blanks in a series had a little slower taper and rated heavier than they should. Consequently blanks in longer lengths rated a little too light and were a faster taper.

As an example; Our reference length for our Affinity X series is 9'0". Our historic system provided great designs in the 8'0" to 10'0" range. As we moved below 8' and above 10', the blanks became progressively further out of line with this central point.
Our reference length alters depending on the blank series. For our Elite blanks it's 7', for our Vapor Trail it's 12'6" and so on.

A new large deflection computer modeling system has been integrated with our existing system to produce a far advanced design system. Our new G3 system will affect all our blanks in a proportionately larger way as they move from this central point.

In our fly blank program, blanks in the 9'6" to 8'6" lengths will not be affected too much. Blanks below 8'6" will become progressively more nimble and faster in taper. They will have a more delicate presentation with quick and punchy loading capability. Blanks above 10' will become more assertive in the tip area to control more line with a larger capability spread. They will be fuller and sweeter in loading and power delivery. In all cases, blanks will load closer to their intended rating.

In our longer heavier ranges such as our S8, S7, Vapor Trail, Compound Motion etc, blanks below the 11'6" mark will become more nimble in the tip with more power in the butt, and blanks above 13'6" will become fuller loading, smoother with better control.

Thank you for all your feedback over the years to help us create this system. We're excited with the new G3 designs. They really are a new Generation of blank.

Stephen sent me a note recently asking for an exhibitor's package for the 2015 Expo. Hopefully he'll make it back over this year and builders can discuss the new program with him in person.
