I have looked at the forum history files but can not find the answer to my problem I have a rod I did some marbling on about two weeks ago and it is still not dry. It has been turning that long
I have used my heat gun and placed it in a room over 80 degrees for a couple of days. It is still not dry. I used the paint from one of the suppliers on the left ( not the powdered paint ) and brushed it on the blank. I can not get it to dry Obviously user error. How can i get it to dry. I like the marbling effect HELP Re: Paint not drying

David,
Was the paint a two part paint? If the paint has been on for two weeks and still is not dry, I am guessing that it will not ever dry well. Likely time to strip it off and start again. If you do, do a test on a scrap rod to be sure that the paint cures correctly. If the paint was a one part paint, was it well stirred? If you have done everything correctly, then you likely simply have a bad batch of non curing paint. The only other suggestion that I might make would be to take the rod and turner outside and let it turn in the bright bright sun for a few days. Re: Paint not drying

Is it the paint or is it the epoxy? Re: Paint not drying

The first thing that I would ask is " is the paint you used compatible or designed to mix with your epoxy?" Re: Paint not drying

Thanks guys,
I used marbling pigment CRB from mudhole. I did not mix any epoxy in it. I did not have anything on the rod blank either. I know I did something wrong Re: Paint not drying

The pigments are mixed in the finish. The best way I can explain it is to look at mudholes video about it.Also doing a complete blank this way would ruin it. Imo

David
"pigment" is not 'paint' but the coloring that is added to paint - I believe what you bought is supposed to be mixed with epoxy. " EXCLUSIVE LOOK: CRB MARBLING PIGMENT Our CRB Marbling Pigments can be used for tinting, marbling and any other coloring projects using Rod Finish. We now offer 9 highly concentrated pigments: black, blue, red, white, yellow, orange, green, light blue and violet. These 9 basic colors will let you mix & match to create virtually any color you can imagine." Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/17/2014 12:27PM by Ken Preston. Re: Paint not drying

So, it appears that the problem is that you simply used the marbeling pigment as a paint without mixing it with any epoxy finish.
Since that is likely the case, you should be able to simply wipe the pigment off the rod, and clean up the blank with Alcohol. Then, mix up a new batch of pigment along with rod guide coating epoxy and coat the rod in the patterns that you wish. You should be then, good to go. Be safe Re: Paint not drying
