Does anyone have experience with this line of blanks and can tell me if they find the posted ratings for lure weight to be "true"?
For example, in the Elite SD Series, (per CTS) Series 2 is rated for lure weight .7oz to 1.2oz and Series 3 is rated for 1oz to 1.5oz. Do you find that to be "true" in the real world when you start casting lures with these rods? Apparently, CTS has reevaluated the ratings on this series of rod and the ratings are "out of alignment" with ratings presented by distributors and even on CTS' own web site (which they said they are updating). Thanks, Tony Re: CTS Elite SD Series Spinning and Casting Blanks

I built myself a casting rod on a CTS Elite Slow Jig 7'0 6-12lb. 1/8-1/4 oz.for crank and spinner baits. I wouldn't use more than 12# but, I think it could handle 3/8 oz.spinner baits without any problems. I'll be testing it tomorrow on Lake Hopatcong. As a spinning rod I think that same blank would make a nice drop shot, shaky head rod.A little lite in the tip with most of the power 2/3 back. I'll know after tomorrow. Dennis J. Well I'm back from Hopatcong and the rod is too light for spinner baits for my likeing. Its just too light in the tip. I didn't get to do any cranking with it because there was just too much slop. It may work out to be a better crankin or top water rod.Next time. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: CTS Elite SD Series Spinning and Casting Blanks

Dennis, thank you for the field report. Just a thought..... "slow jigging" can often mean rods that the jigging world describes as "parabolic" which I think in simple terms lets the rod bend all the way in the to butt section and jigging rods if not like this are described as "fast" which to me means a stiffer tip. Maybe you need a rod that is stiffer in the tip section for working your baits? Re: CTS Elite SD Series Spinning and Casting Blanks

Thanks tony for the info. Yes , I do believe a stronger tip is needed. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
