So I build a ton of fly rods but not so many conventional rods. Just a few here and there. Once a year my family and I go to a lake called Hawely for a week. I have a small 14ft boat that I like to troll around with the kids with because its easy fishing for them. I have been thinking about making 3 matching trolling rods to keep in the boat for this. I only troll with small spinners/roostertails and maybe a few small crankbaits. Right now with the rigs I have they are just my shore rigs for bait fishing. There both spinning rods and I have alot of problems with getting a build up of line twist. I think I would go ahead and make these a spiral wrapped rod since they will be dedicated as trolling rods. Any recommendations for this application? Re: Light Weight Trolling rods

Consider Batson "RDR" series, either the RDR70-L or M, also RDR710-ML.
Another option are the "SPG" E-Glass series. Here are some links; [www.schneidersrods.com] [www.schneidersrods.com] The RDR70-L is a favorite light line blank both for spinning and level wind type trolling/live bait rods. I had a lot of line twist on my UL caused buy the bait turning while retriving putting loops in the spool
A simple small swivel then a mono leader fixed that Bill - willierods.com Re: Light Weight Trolling rods

Thanx for the help. I like the looks of the RDR70L, RDR710L, and the RDR710ML. Would still work well for bait fishing too is the nice part. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
