Writing on a Blank

Hi All,

Second post from last one.

I forgot to ask what is the best medium to write with for gold on a graphite blank that I can apply epoxy to it with a few hours?

Chris, I use Pro Kote for finish. I sign the blank with Testors and as soon as I can touch it without smearing I coat it (usually a few hours). If you are using a single part finish such as Permagloss you might have to coat it with CP first.

Hi Victor

I used a two part Epoxy from Riley Rods. I actually really like the stuff. I don't know why it smeared. I applied the epoxy literally 12 hours after! Well I will redo it coat with color preserver then apply epoxy.

Any tips for getting epoxy off EVA grips? Can I sand them?

Sounds like the paint was an enamil That usually takes over a week to dry If that
Use Lacqures Something fast dry And then maybe spray with a lacquer clear let dry overnight

You may find an answer in this thread. For example, in the tenth post Brian Babcock writes with Tremclad paint (Rustolium) and follows with heat to dry it. He then right away applies the finish.

If you want it fast I would just contact decal connection and have them make stick on labels for you. Theres nothing faster.

You can get gold ink from speedball or other brands at the craft store or from Jann's on the left. It dries quickly and you can epoxy over it without any pre-coating. It even stands up to Permagloss.

Ditto to Terry. I use Speedball gold and silver acrylic ink. You can get it from some of the suppliers on the left, or Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Won't smear under epoxy, but I let it dry a couple of hours to be safe. It will smear under rod varnish, but rod varnish is seldom used anymore.
