I have been building rods for over 15 yrs,so im not new to this great hobby. Im building a rod for a customer and my epoxy is not hardening. Ive been using the same brand epoxy for all this time. My first coat was dry, my second coat was dry ,my third thin coat is almost dry but kinda tacky. I measure everything perfectly, as I have always done. I am dumb founded over this. Can I put a thin coat over the tacky finish??? This has NEVER EVER happened to me before in all my years building rods. What should I do ????????????

You can add another coat if need be, but how long has this current coat been drying? Have you given it a full 3 days or so in a warm room?

Invariably, tacky epoxy is the result of improper measuring and/or not enough mixing. It happens to us all at some point, however, it might be too early to make that call.

If you were watching TV or have kids around you may have been distracted when you mixed
I mix while watching TV and some times am not sure if I put so much one part in and so just chuck it and start again If the mix is not that fare off it should harded just like said give it some time

I always mix by the clock.
I mix for at least 120 seconds or 2 minutes.

When I had a case of a bad cure, it was the lack of mixing that had caused my issue.

Thanks to all, guess it was pilot error. I just hope it will harden eventually
