I have my first rod repair and have a few questions. The guide is broken. What is the best way to try to match a guide? I know it is a basic question and most of you are getting a good chuckle now but I would like to do a good job. The guide is a single foot and looks to be silver in color. I tried looking at Mudhole and other vendors. How do I know for sure what guide it could be.
Thanks Re: First Rod Repair

Post a picture in the Photo section. With all of the expert rod builders on this forum, someone will be able to tell you what guide it is. Re: First Rod Repair

If you know of a business in your area that sells rod building components you could bring it there. If you know other builders in your area you could show it to them. You could also post a picture of it on the photo page for Rodbuilding.org asking for identification. The outside diameter of the ring in the frame in millimeters will tell you the size. If you cannot identify the guide, or it is out of production, you can get a guide of the same ring size and color, same frame finish and general shape, same height, and I'll bet no one will notice. The winding might be a bigger challenge, unless it happens to be black. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
