I uploaded photos of my first rod build to the PHOTOS section. It's a light spinning rod specifically for vertical jigging crappies. It's a 6' blank with 3.5" trimmed off the tip to firm up the action and provide a better feel for light bites. The shorter length also allows me to jig under the trolling motor mounted transducer (like ice fishing).
My favorite color is red so that's the primary wrap color, and it's all gold trimmed for a flashy look. My intent is to make it flashy without being too gaudy so it will catch the eye of people and stimulate a conversation about where I got it, how I made it, etc. It was a great learning experience and I'm addicted so another spinning rod and casting rod are already in the works. Very nice work. Even if it were not a first build it would be considered very good. The weave, IMHO, is very well done. I like the overall design, too. You are on your way! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
