what material do i need

what materiel/kind of materiel do i need to get started?

which types of the following would you recommend for starters?

thread
finish
color preserver
epoxy

anything else?

i plan on buying a pretty nice hand wrapper. anything to look for or avoid? thanks in advance

I would just get one of the Flex Coat company's HW1 wrappers. It has two supports and one extra free standing support for any length rod. It also has thread tensioners and can hold 2 spools of thread. Pretty cheap too. Less than $60 but does about all any hand wrapper can do.

I think I'd buy just whatever thread in the colors I wanted for that first rod. Get the Supreme finish from U40 and maybe some Rod Bond while you're at it. They also make a color preserver so you could keep it all in the same family. For me the U40 products and the Flex Coat stuff is a toss up. Both are good.

that's the exact wrapper i was going to get. i think i'll just go ahead and buy the good stuff up front. what kind of thread do i need to do it right the first time?
