This is really a great site! I am wondering if anyone out there can tell me where I can acquire bamboo rod blanks in the trolling and boat rod class. I've seen them wrapped and they really look great. Thanks! Re: Bamboo Rod Blanks

Nobody I am aware of currently makes bamboo blanks for much of anything outside fly or light freshwater use. Doesn't mean that somebody doesn't, just that I'm not aware of any currently. Russ Gooding at Golden Witch would have a better idea on who, if anybody, might make such a thing. Most of the ones you have seen are likely refurbished rods from many years ago. You can usually find these old bamboo boat rods at yard sales and such. Most are not extremely valuable and can be picked up for very little money. (Be aware that some owners confuse their Montigue bamboo boat rod with the very valuable and quite rare upper end bamboo fly rods and thus the value they place upon it may be very inflated.) Keep looking and you should be able to find a suitable rod which you can restore to your liking. .......................... Re: Bamboo Rod Blanks
