Do they still exist? I haven't built any rods in a while and decided I'd like to check on some G-USA blanks on mudhole. They're not on there anymore. Did something happen to G-USA? Also, what happened to Custom Tackle Supply? I click the link to the left and it goes to mudhole. I was gonna make me a crappie jig pole from a rainshadow fly blank and can't find them either. It's like I just woke up from a coma. LOL
Thanks, Steve Re: Graphite USA blanks

They're gettin' the band back together...
GUSA shut down about three years ago. Peter Williams in Australia purchased the patterns and machinery, moved it to Calamesa Ca. and spent the next year plus tuning and dialing all of the equipment in, much of which was very out of whack. The good news is they've got everything working better than ever and have been making blanks for the last year, mainly for the Australian market under the new name "United Composites USA". I just went through the new plant a few weeks ago and saw the improvements for myself, as I had caught some of the tail end of the old GUSA's production and it wasn't good... I was impressed. Peter's Son Andrew runs the plant and took me through the process step by step, pointing out where improvements had been made and methods had been updated. I was confident enough in the product to "bite off" a distributorship. They're still building most of the old single & dual helix models, plus a large range of new glass/graphite composites and "hybrids" which can be viewed on their site --> [unitedcomposites-usa.com] We should have them up on our site and in our warehouse in the next few weeks. Thanks Mark! I didn't know the quality had gone bad. That might explain why I had about 6 inches of the tip break on one for no apparent reason. I had built this rod about 3 years ago. Re: Graphite USA blanks

I have used around 15 blanks from United since Peter took over and the quality is great and they are developing new models all the time and having spoken to Peter about some ideas that would suit us in Australia he is more than open to investigating new concepts. Re: Graphite USA blanks
