I just received a St Croix Steelhead blank G130L3. When I assembled the blank, I noted that the upper ferrule only inserts about 1 1/16 inch. This seems to be a bit short, and I am wondering if anyone out there knows if this is normal. The lower ferrule fits fine, with about a 2 1/4" insertion. I am a bit concerned about the strength of such a short ferrule joint. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Stan

I am pretty sure that's the right fit. The upper tip section would usually not fit as deep as the lower section. Just to double check I suggest you might get ahold of their exact specs. on this ferrule from Jason at St. Croix.
