First Build With Micros. Please Help! Simple Question...

This is a simple question and i hope to get some quick answers... I am building a swimbait rod with micros and have never done it before.

I will be using the MHX 8' blank. My question is what guide sizes to use and how many. I thought I would use a 6 or 8 for the first guide then eight or nine number 4s before my tip top.

If you could convince me to use a spiral wrap, I would, but my same question would apply, as well as how to.

Rod building is new to me and I did a search but not many answers came up. So, some quick help here would be great because I'd like to make an order tonight.

Thanks!

What size/type of line are you using?

What blank?

Size of lure?

Casting or spinning?

Need a little more info to get you going.

In mean time, you may also want to consider searching for "micro maniac" - those posts have a wealth of information.

It will help if you know what style of reel you are using.
Old style round body like Ambassadeur 5000 will need a larger guide spaced farther away,
a low profile like Revo can use smaller and closer.
We usually end with 21-24" from the front of the reel when mounted.

Best wishes,

It will be a casting rod.

I plan on using the new Abu Garcia Kalex souped up. Its an Ambassadeur.

The blank is Mudhole's new line; a SWB967-Blend.

I plan on throwing an average of 4 oz baits with about 50 pound braid.

Hope this helps guys. Thanks a ton!

(also realized the micro search I did was that of only the last 30 days... that's why I wasn't finding much. But, I'm still hoping for the help here)

Try this:

Use Search

Enter "M&M Volume" as search text (there was a typo in this line please try again this is correct)

Change dates to All

Go back to 1 year ago and read from the last post forward.

You will be a while reading and most of your questions will be answered.
