does anyone no a way to use trimar thread as a under wrap. I have tried several ways, but it keeps breaking in the hand rod wrapping machine. Re: trimar thread

Does the metallic strand break or the whole thread break? Not being there to check things like tension, etc.;I would have to speculate that you are using too much tension to wrap the thread. You don't need much tension and pack the thread as you go.Use your thumbnail or a burnishing tool.If you are using a thread bobbin or running it through discs on a tension device, there may be burrs or rough spots. This might be the problem.Write back with more details or call your local shop. Trimar is bigger than size A thread and usually is better to use a smaller size thread as an underwrap than the thread that goes on top. I think trimar is size C or D, and has the extra thread twisted which one needs to be careful and adjust with less tension and perhaps slow down the speed while wrapping? Ever try the new Classic wrap tread from Gudebrod? These are a double stranded in rich tones but much thinner and seem to behave better under tension and wrapping. You'll not have the metallic strand, but they are a nice alternative to try out in guide or butt wraps. The Classic is size A and can easily be used as an underwrap, but usually we've used them as the thread on top to show the true beauty of the effect and tones. Just a thought. The trimar spools I have say they are size c. I have used it with very few problems with my tension device that has the disks that the thread goes between, I would probabaly tell you to try less tension first. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
