Can any of you guys help a rod builder over here in the UK?
I bought rod drying machine off @#$%& a while ago and after 20 minutes the motor burnt out. We cant buy these 9 and 24 RPM small motors over here in England, only the 6 RPM ones designed to run a microwave turntable. My hope is someone can get hold of a couple of these and send them over to me, I'll pay the P&P and of course the cost of them motors. Can anyone help? Thanks, Phil. I'd try Mudhole. They are a sponsor. That's where I got mine. Not sure about the voltage difference though.

Thanks Wit,
I've already got the voltage difference solved as I've bought a 240 > 110 transformer I use. I'm wondering where these motors come from, are they used in other applications or are they made specifically for rod building? Phil. Re: Can anyone help a rod builder here in the UK?

What about gearing up the motor you have? A couple of toothed timing pulleys and a matching toothed belt would do it. Of course, you would need a drive shaft and bearings- aw, forget it, cost is getting to be more than buying a new motor. Re: Can anyone help a rod builder here in the UK?

Hi Phil,
I don't think you have to worry, a 6 rpm motor is fine for curing epoxy. However, you can probably have the origional motor rewound and that will suit the British voltage too-that what I did with my machine when I worked out of Wales. My machine did the same as yours, the drying motor burnt out in a day. That drying machine is still working in Swansea after nearl 20 years with the same motor, though its not with me anymore.
