Couldnt find anything in the search....But I got a few winding checks (.591) that need to be 1/2 a mil bigger.....Trying to think of the most efficent way to ream them evenfully.
Im thinking of making a tapered mandrel for the drill with a medium sandpaper to start, then a finer one.... suggestions? Thank you. Walker Re: Reaming a winding check?

may work, but it would be easer to get the right size. Bill - willierods.com Re: Reaming a winding check?

Maybe stop by a local jewelry store and see is they could resize on a tapered steel mandrel, like for rings. Re: Reaming a winding check?

I've used a dremel before with a cone stone, beware, it will get hot, hold it with gloves and be patient.... Re: Reaming a winding check?

Also, cartridge rolls and cartridge roll mandrels available from www.mscdirect.com, pgs 934-935 in online catalog.

Walker,
I've reamed out smaller winding checks with a small diameter rat tail file; it worked great. Maybe a larger dia. round file would work for you. It seems like I've seen them up to about .630 inch diameter. George Re: Reaming a winding check?

I have tried to ream them out and after a few attempts, I saw the huge risk of loss of digits and just ordered some 1 mm larger.
Be careful. Kevin Re: Reaming a winding check?
