Reaming a winding check?

Couldnt find anything in the search....But I got a few winding checks (.591) that need to be 1/2 a mil bigger.....Trying to think of the most efficent way to ream them evenfully.
Im thinking of making a tapered mandrel for the drill with a medium sandpaper to start, then a finer one....

suggestions?

Thank you.

may work, but it would be easer to get the right size.

Maybe stop by a local jewelry store and see is they could resize on a tapered steel mandrel, like for rings.

I've used a dremel before with a cone stone, beware, it will get hot, hold it with gloves and be patient....

Also, cartridge rolls and cartridge roll mandrels available from www.mscdirect.com, pgs 934-935 in online catalog.
Same warning as the stones; wear gloves!

Walker,
I've reamed out smaller winding checks with a small diameter rat tail file; it worked great. Maybe a larger dia. round file would work for you. It seems like I've seen them up to about .630 inch diameter.

I have tried to ream them out and after a few attempts, I saw the huge risk of loss of digits and just ordered some 1 mm larger.

Be careful.

They were the Batson winding checks...15mm is the largest they offer.. .591=15mm..I needed 15.5 & 16.5....I misread my caliper(oops)...I scratched them and re-ordered the regular silver winding checks from Mudhole this morning since they offer up to 16mm....16 should be fine....Ill make it fit!!!!,haha

I appreciate all the help...I did try a dremal last night...It got so hot it melted into my plastic clamp!!,lol....Then again into my finger,ouch!........lessons,yea I learn em,lol
